Me and My Family
Hey there! I'm Katie Dixon, YOUR new bridal hairstylist.
First and foremost, I love my Jesus and I love my family. I am a proud mom of three beautiful children. Parenthood has brought an indescribable depth of love and joy into my life. Watching my children grow and explore the world is a journey that fills my heart with so much gratitude.
Beyond the joys of parenting, you'll often find me in our gym - Pipe Hitters Gym - a business my husband, Skyler, and I have built from the ground up. After a deployment as a sniper to Afghanistan (while our first two children were 1.5 and just born) my husband was medically discharged from the Army. Shortly after, he felt lead to open a strength training gym in our home town; where we have the opportunity to pour motivation and encouragement into countless individuals.
On Sundays, you can usually catch me lending my voice as a worship leader at our local church. Singing has always been a passion of mine, although something I’ve struggled sharing because, well it’s hard to get in front of people and feel vulnerable enough to share your talents, but The Lord never fails! I believe He meets us where we are, and all we need to do is run after Him for “those who seek the Lord shall lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:10
In all aspects of my life, whether it's in the joy of parenthood, being in the gym, or singing my praises, I strive to live authentically, with passion, purpose, and gratitude.
Hubs
My husband! He amazes me in every new phase of our life. Yes, we are high school sweet hearts and practically grew up together.
We have seen each other succeed and struggle. We have built things together from nothing, and we have always been each other's biggest supporters.
We share a love for sports and being athletic. He is also on stage with me at church singing and playing guitar. And we are absolutely head over heels about our kiddos.
The Kids
Beau is our first born. He has grasped sports from an early age. We could throw him into any game and he would thrive and do his best.
Daisy is our only girl and loves to be "mom" right along side me. She loves to be creative and cook and sing, and is a stranger to no one.
Jon Jon is our youngest and is adored by every member of the family. He loves to play chase and tricks, and I think we have our hands full with just him (isn't that how it usually goes with the third kid?).
My Hair Journey
My journey to hair actually started with a love for doing nails. When I was young, I painted my nails a different design just about every other week. It wasn't until my mom suggested I look into cosmetology school, that I even thought to put my lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian and saving all the animals aside, and pursue my creative talents.
While a senior in high school, I applied to the Aveda Institute in Jacksonville, FL just as they were running a scholarship opportunity to cover the entire programs tuition for one student. I absolutely was not going to participate, because remember the thing about being vulnerable with your talents? (Read above) Nope! Wasn't gonna do it.
But I did. Last minute, poured my heart into this project where I had to dress, make-up, and do hair for a model who'd walk the runway during their fundraiser. And I won. Full tuition paid for. I had never done anything like it, and that was just the start into believing I was good enough to keep going.
I quickly fell away from nails when I discovered just how fun hair was! I graduated cosmetology school and jumped straight into a salon offering everything under the sun from cuts to color, balayage and barbering, event styling and weddings, and more and I loved it!
Then along came kids, and being behind the chair got more difficult as the kids kept coming. With a desire to be present for my children, I decided to specialize in bridal hair and create a schedule where we could be together most of the time.
I have a huge passion for hair and being creative. I love the rush of every early morning, making your bridal hair dreams come true on your wedding day. What a dream that you'd consider me to create these magical memories that will be cherished (by you and me) for a lifetime.
